Light the candles, cue the music and get ready for a little bit of birthday fun! It will SOON be a very special lady's birthday and so we rallied the troops to send some birthday wishes her way a little early! On Monday, February 25th, Jan Marie Caruso, the fearless and creative force behind Flourishes will be another year older -- what a wonderful thing to celebrate! So, we've asked Flourishes' designers from all of our teams to join us to help make this day super special with a......
Here's the scoop, there's a way YOU can help Jan celebrate and win some Flourishes stamps as well! HOW? We just love creative challenges here at Flourishes and so, why not usher in another one! Simply create a card using the birthday graphic aboce as inspiration. One randomly drawn winner will get a $25 gift certificate to the Flourishes store, just for playing along!
I went all out fru fru for my card today! Jan Marie is an elegant and classy lady, and I wanted my card to reflect her beautiful style. I was inspired by the color palette in the photo above. I used the Roses Are Red stamp set, which I just cannot get enough of! The sentiment is from Inside & Out Just Because. Those yummy papers are from Kaisercraft's new Secret Garden collection. I had fun layering pretty trims on my card, including Ivory Scalloped Lace Trim, ivory pom pom trim, and rose crochet and velvet trim. The tiny bow on the flower bouquet was made with narrow satin ribbon.
I die-cut the sentiment with Flourishes Perfecty Pierced Classic Window Die Set, and the floral image with Spellbinders Classic Circles Die Set. I stamped the sentiment with Ranger Victorian Velvet Distress Ink, and added a couple of Ice Green Pearls to finish off the sentiment label. I took the time to machine stitch a couple of rows of ivory button thread on my card, and then proceded to cover them up with my main image panel. Oh well, it's good practice, right? ;)
The card base is Sugar Cookie from the Sunflower Color Made Easy Collection. I layered it with some pretty aqua paper to enhance the vintage look.
The image was stamped on Classic Ivory cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored in with the following Copic Marker Collections:
I air-brushed the background with my G43 Copic marker. I sponged the sentiment label with Ranger Scattered Straw Distress Ink.
I added some pretty papers to the inside, stamped a butterfly from Fanciful Flourishes with Ranger Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, and stamped the sentiment with Ranger Broken China Distress Ink.
I ADORE Jan Marie, and wish her the HAPPIEST of birthdays! Love you, sweet friend! MWAH!
One extra note: Jan may be the head of this company, but one thing she doesn't get a ton of is happy mail from customers using her stamps. Let's change that for her birthday, and flood her with some creative "love" by sending her your Berry Sweet Birthday Blog Hop creations! Here's her address, so you can pop them in the mail!
