Hello & a very happy Friday to you, crafty friends!
It's my turn to hostess the Power & Spark Challenge over on the Power Poppy blog this month, and I chose to do a No Lines Coloring Challenge. What does that mean, you ask? Well, it simply means you stamp or print your image in a light colored ink, rather than the usual black or dark brown. This creates a beautiful, soft painterly affect on your image. For full details, you'll want to hop on over to the Power Poppy blog.
The pretty patterned papers on my card are from Echo Park's For the Record 2 collection. Yes, that's another oldie but goodie. I've been trying to use some of my beloved older paper packs before I do a big clean-out, which is happening very soon. It's high time I updated my stash!
I printed the gorgeous Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher image in a pale green ink onto X-Press It Blending Card. I used a slightly darker shade of green ink to print the sentiment on. I airbrushed the sentiment flag with a W5 Copic Marker & my Copic Airbrush System. A coordinating button (love that the shape works so well with the patterned paper!) & some dainty white enamel dots finish off the details.
I colored the image using the following Copic Markers.
One thing I have found to be true is that I use more markers when I do the no lines coloring technique. I like a lot of contrast & depth in my images, and without those black lines, I have to create it all myself.
You may be wondering why I have three different kinds of grays in there. I used the Warm Grays on the pitcher, the Cool Grays on the ground, and the Neutral Gray (N8) to create some extra shadow depth on the background leaves.
Here's a close up look at the image:
I added touches of white to the flower centers with my Pearl White Kirarina Wink Pen.
Here's a look at the inside of the card:
The tulips and sentiment from Dynamic Duos: Peonies and Tulips were stamped in Memento Nautical Blue. Then I added left-over strips of patterned papers down the left side to dress it up a bit.
So, don't you want to play along with us this month? You have the entire month of February to play along, and you can enter as many times as you like! Oh, and did I mention that this involves FREE STAMPS?!! Umm...yeah! So, click the above graphic for all the details, and try your hand at no lines coloring!
Check out the beautiful work of the Bloom Brigade!
