Hello friends! It's time for the monthly design team Creative Challenge from My Favorite Things! This month we were challenged to create projects using that time-honored pattern we all know and love, STRIPES.
I have two stripey cards to share with you today.
The first card is a bold and graphic one, utilizing lots of black and white, with a pop of color in the form of an air-brushed scene.
The card base is Smooth White, and the layers are Smooth White and Black Licorice. I stamped the Diagonal Striped Background in Black Licorice ink on the bottom panel, and stamped the Confetti Background in Sweet Tooth on the top panel.
The silhouette flowers are from the Peaceful Wildflowers set, and they were stamped in Black Licorice Hybrid ink. I air-brushed the background with my Copic Airbrush System, B04 Copic marker, and YG17 Copic marker. The sentiment was also stamped in Black Licorice Hybrid ink. I then die-cut that panel with the Rectangle 1 STAX Die-namics.
The sketch for my card is this week's Deconstructed Sketch, which is being sponsored by none other than My Favorite Things. (Yes, you WANT to play along!)
Check out the sketch:
The sweet little flowers in the corner were created with the Upsy Daisy Die-namics and Layered Rose Die-namics.
A few black and white enamel dots, some in the flower centers, and some in the bottom right corner, finish off the card nicely.
Here's a look at the inside:
I added a strip of Black Licorice card stock across the top, stamped the flowers from Peaceful Wildflowers in Blu Raspberry (stamped off once), and stamped the sentiment in Black Licorice.
For my second card, I chose clean white paired with bright, happy shades of yellow and blue.
There are lots of striped elements on this card!
The card base is Smooth White, and the layers are Lemon Drop and Blu Raspberry. I stamped the On the Diagonal Background on the card base in Lemon Drop ink. I just wanted it to frame the card; so I added a smaller Smooth White layer behind the Stripes Cover-Up Die-namics. The Lemon Drop layer was die-cut with the Vertical Stitched Strips Die-namics, and the Blu Raspberry layer was die-cut with the Horizontal Stitched Strips Die-namics. I stamped the Pinstripe Background in Lemon Drop ink on the Lemon Drop layer. I stamped the Diagonal Stripes Background in Blu Raspberry on the larger of the two Stitched Circle STAX Die-namics.
That fabulous set of cake dies comes from the Bring on the Cake Die-namics. The cake plate cover was die-cut from Translucent Vellum.
The sketch is this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch. Check it out:
Such a fun and yet, easy sketch!
I stamped the sentiment from Delicious Birthday in Sweet Tooth ink, and embossed it in clear, giving it an almost-clear look. I added polka dots with a Sakura White Glaze Pen. I am loving the way that embossed sentiment looks with the white polka dots!
A fru-fru yellow/blue/white twine bow and a scattering of enamel dots finishes off the details.
I kept the inside simple, with a Smooth White layer, and the sentiments from Delicious Birthday, which were stamped in Blu Raspberry and Lemon Drop.
Thanks so much for stopping by today, friends! Be sure to swing by the MFT Blog for links to the rest of the designers' blogs.
Have a beautiful day!
