Hello friends!
Today I've created a springtime card with a country feel. I used the sweet Go Wild stamp set from Power Poppy, and created my own plaid background with Copic Wide Markers.
To create the plaid background, I began with a BG10 Copic Wide Marker, and colored a 1/4 sheet of X-Press It Blending Card, saturating it completely to get a smooth background.
The Copic Wide Markers are the perfect choice for achieving quick, smooth coverage on a large area.
My next step involved the use of an X-acto knife and a brand-new Copic Wide Chisel Nib. This step might just freak you out a little; but I promise you, it's absolutely worth it! I cut two notches in mine, creating three sections. You could cut as many as your heart desires.
Next, I chose three coordinating Various Inks to color the newly chiseled nib.
I chose analogous colors (close to each other on the color wheel), rather than complementary colors (opposite each other on the color wheel), for a soft palette. Since this plaid was going to be the background of my card, I didn't want it to take away from the main focal image.
I dripped a few drops of each color onto the different sections of the nib. I used a blank Copic Wide marker for this technique; but you could use a Colorless Blender Wide Marker also. What you will NOT want to do, is leave the nib in the marker for too long, or the three colors will contaminate the foam that is inside the marker, and create a new color (which you may or may not like ;)).
While I had the nib inked, I played around with a few different patterns, which I'll save for future projects.
As you can see, I did not pre-ink the rest of my designs; so they have a white background. If I decide I want to cover the white, I can either airbrush some color on, or go over it all lightly with a Copic Wide Marker. It will mute the plaid design; but I'm thinking that will be a pretty look.
Once I created the background, I stamped the Power Poppy Go Wild image with Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored it with the following Copic markers.
Here's a peek at the inside of the card:
I stamped two of the sentiments at the top, adding a bit of color by highlighting "Happy Birthday" with my BG10 & YG21 Copic markers.
I dressed up the bottom with a left-over strip of the plaid paper from the front of the card. It's a great way to use up your scraps.
That's all from me today, friends! I do hope you'll try some Copic Wide Markers of your own! They come in 36 different colors AND blanks for you to fill with any of our 358 Various Ink colors. You can also get a flat chisel nib to replace the angled one if you like...especially great if you like to do lettering!

Have a beautiful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, Cindy, what a fun way to create your own DP, and I love how you and Debbie have used a wide Copic marker to make stripes for plaid (that are so big now). Beautiful card, and I just love this sweet little image! Perfect coloring and a great layout! Hugs, sweet friend!
