Hello friends!
I have something super fun & very outside of MY box to share with you today. Okay, yes, it's a card, which is clearly not outside my box. What is, however, is the fact that I used zero stamps on this card. I drew the cat & hand-lettered the sentiment with a fabulous new pen from Copic, called Gasenfude. Every time I say that, I say "bless you" in my head. Yes, I am a child.
The Gasenfude pen is a high-quality, genuine nylon brush pen. If you think Copic's sketch markers have a fine brush nib, well, my friends, THIS pen has the finest of fine tips on the brush. It is sooo yummy! The long, flexible bristle nib is perfect for calligraphy, hand-lettering, comic art, or traditional brush art applications.
I was able to use just that one pen to draw my cat, using thick strokes to fill it in & that fabulous fine tip for the whiskers and bits of fur around the edges of the face. I haven't taken the time to do much drawing of my own lately; but I had such fun doing this simple drawing that I will absolutely be playing more in the near future.
Now, the hand-lettering isn't terribly fabulous. However, it is legible, which is half the battle, right? I purchased a hand-lettering instructional guide, so that I could get lots of practice over the summer. I am determined to get good at it. You can come along with me for the ride, and watch my progress.
Since the Gasenfude pen is Copic-proof, I was able to color the eyes without any bleeding. I used my YG01 & YG09 markers to color the eyes, and added highlights with my White Pearl Kirarina Wink Pen.
The sentiment flag was air-brushed with my Copic Airbrush System and B04 Copic marker.
I was quite intimidated at first; but it turned out to be one of the most fun cards I've made in a long time.
Thanks a million for stopping by today, friends!
Have a beautiful day!
~Cindy
Oh my, Cindy!! This is fabulous, and your cat is amazing! I love his eyes, and I can hardly believe you used this amazing new pen I've seen recently. But YOU really showed us what you can do with it -- wow! I love it, and I love your hand-lettered sentiment. What fun! I've seen lots of great ideas for hand-lettering (and have pinned many), but this is so intriguing and clearly a must-have for Copic coloring. Love it! Hugs!
