Season's Givings Blog Hop & HUGE Give-Away!

Happy 2018, fabulous crafty & creative peeps!

It's that time of year again...Season's Givings time! Each year at the very first moment of a brand new year, this wonderful blog hop goes live. I scrolled back through all of my posts for 2017, and chose a few of my favorite cards to share with you. (I think I have a thing for florals...and Power Poppy Stamps!)

This first one I created back in February 2017. I love everything about this gorgeous Power Poppy image...so much fun to color!

Next up is my favorite bouquet of tulips, colored up with Copics in pretty blues.

Finally, here's one that I really like simply because I drew the image with a Copic Multiliner. The only stamp on here is the sentiment. Simple, but pretty I think. :)

I could share more with you; but I think three is a great number. Here's hoping 2018 brings with it lots more happy coloring goodness!

Copic Team Changes & a Give-Away

Hello friends~

Today's post is full of big Copic news, a fun project, and even a sweet give-away. So, grab yourself a cup of your favorite beverage, and settle in for a bit.

Our dear friend & long-standing Copic team member, Lori Craig, is stepping down from our instructor team, and moving into a new position with the Tommy Arts brand. I am so very excited for Lori's wonderful new opportunity, and I'm also going to miss her something fierce. Lori is the girl who knows how to get things done. She has incredible ideas, a huge heart, and an infectious laugh. The room absolutely lights up when Lori walks in. She is like a sister to me, and I'm so grateful that God brought us together in this crazy wonderful world of paper crafting.

Here's one of my favorite photos of Lori & I from back in 2011:

I loved her then, and I love her even more now. To know Lori is to love Lori. She is all about people and relationships, and she has a way of making you feel special from the first conversation.

The whole team is going to really miss you. We wish you the VERY best in your new position, sweet friend! ..and I know I don't have to say "keep in touch", cuz, girl...I know you will. Love you! xoxo

As we bid farewell to sweet Lori, we welcome on a new team member that I think you all are going to be pretty excited about...

You may just recognize her as the fabulous Jennifer Dove. Jennifer has been teaching Copic classes and her famous Boot Camp retreats for a number of years. She has also been on the Copic Fine Arts Team for the past two years. So, she's a fantastic addition to the Copic Paper Crafting Team. If you've ever met Jennifer, then you know that she is very enthusiastic, fun, and ridiculously talented!

Here's a photo of us from when I was teaching in Phoenix a few years back. As incredibly talented as she is, she is sweet & kind as well.

I am a HUGE fan of her work and am thankful to call her friend! I am so excited to have her joining the team! Welcome, Jennifer!!!

I created a card today in honor of both Lori's & Jennifer's new positions, which I know they are both going to rock!

I stamped the small flowers from Power Poppy's Potted Primrose stamp set onto a strip of X-Press It Blending Card using Memento Northern Pine ink. I colored it in with the following Copic Markers: Y21 for the flowers, B60 & B63 for the background, and YG41 & G14 for the leaves, vine & flower centers.

The sentiment is from Power Poppy's Lilac Time stamp set.

Check out that pretty sparkle! I created that with the Olive Spica Glitter Pen that comes in the Copic Green Doodle Pack. Such a pretty, subtle shimmer!

The leaves & vine on my card are not part of the stamp set. I drew them myself using the Copic Green Doodle Pack. What an awesome idea that is, to have all of those coordinating pens in one little, affordable kit! Really great for travel, too! You have everything you need in one handy little package. Of course, if you're like me, you're going to want all of them!

Yummy, right?! The doodle packs come with two Copic Ciao Markers, a Spica Glitter Pen, and a coordinating Multi-liner. It's a great way to expand your collection!

Hey, did I mention that we are giving away one of those Doodle Packs along with a Copic Sketch Book??? Well, my friends, that is exactly what we're doing! :)

Charity Blog Hop - and a Give Away!

Hello, crafty & creative friends!

I'm excited to be a part of this wonderful blog hop that is all about one of my very favorite things in the whole wide world...GIVING! We want to inspire you to think outside the box with your gift giving this year. Perhaps instead of yet another gift of flowers for Mom on Mother's Day, you might consider a special gift to a charity of your choosing in Mom's honor. ...something that could make a REAL difference. Isn't that a fun & beautiful idea?!!

There are SO many truly wonderful charities out there, and you're sure to discover some new ones on today's hop. I chose Samaritan's Purse as my charity of choice. This is the same organization that does Operation Christmas Child each year, filling up thousands and thousands of shoeboxes with all sorts of wonderful goodies to send to children all over the world. Many of those children have never ever received a gift, let alone a shoebox full of gifts! My family has participated in this for many years, and it is always lots of fun for us to choose the special items to go inside. We always include a photo of our family, along with a personal note, and we are even able to track where our shoeboxes end up. We have tracked ours to Columbia, Ukraine, and this past year to the Dominican Republic. It is an amazing program, and one that is great for your kiddos to get involved in!

The Samaritan's Purse organization does so much more too! Read on to learn about who they are:

Mission Statement

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

They do so much good around the world, and I'm thrilled to be a small part of that! An easy way to get involved with this wonderful organization is via the Gift Catalog. You simply choose a gift, such as "Feed a hungry baby for a week.", "Restore sight to the blind.", or "Help a poor farming family." There a many, many options! You can give the gift in honor of another person, which is when it becomes a perfect token to tuck into an Easter basket or Mother's Day card, etc.
I chose the following gift:

The number of children in serious crisis around the world is staggering...and heart-breaking. When I think of how we live in such comfort and luxury here in the US, I am reminded of how important it is to not forget those who are less fortunate than we are. If we each help just one person, we will have made a huge impact in this world!

They sent me this sweet card for me to give to the person in whose honor my gift was given.

I created a card today using Mo Manning's Wagon digital image in honor of my gift of rescuing children.

This little sweetie's forlorn expression just called to me. She's just waiting for someone to come along & pull her in her wagon. The floral patterned paper is from Chickaniddy Crafts Scrumptious collection.

I colored her using a wide array of Copic Markers, including the 6-Piece Ciao Skin Set, which is all I used on her skin. If you're looking to get started coloring skin with Copics, get this set! It's a perfect combination of light to dark skin tones.

Here's a look at the other Copic Markers I used on my project:

If you look closely, you can see that I added some texture to her baseball cap. I did that by coloring it up first (before any other part of her is colored), and then spritzing a piece of denim fabric with Colorless Blender solution and pressing it briefly down onto the colored hat image. Voila...texture! Love that technique!

I do like to decorate the inside of my cards as well; so here's a look at the inside:

Start of Summer Copic Blog Hop & Give Away!

Welcome to the Start of Summer Copic Blog Hop!

As summer gets into full swing, our Copic teaching team will take a short break from teaching to focus on refueling their creative juices and preparing classes for the Fall season and brand new classes for 2017.

Although we've hit pause on teaching, we are ramping up for the fall season of Copic Workshops: More Whimsical Faces and Hair, Vintage Values and Mono Tones, and Dress For Success: Clothing and Accessories! All three of the workshops will be taught at all 9 of the following locations this fall.

While I have your attention, I'd like to share a card I created using one of my very favorite techniques for creating backgrounds.

Now, this card clearly has a lot more going on that just that background; but can you guess what I used to create the background? Did you say air-brushing?! Well, gosh you're exactly right! Nothing, and I do mean, nothing creates a background more quickly and beautifully than the Copic Airbrush System. By far, it's one of my best investments!
